where we came from

I stumbled on this article about spoilt youngsters. The usual complain about the younger generation not knowing how to appreciate the good stuff given to them. Yes, we've all heard it before, that during our father's time they had meat only a few times... Tough times indeed!

I used to frown on such article, which we have heard a million times. This time it touched me. Perhaps I've grown up a bit. Having been through some tough times in the last few years has indeed changed me. It has thought me about determination, belief and faith....

...I certainly appreciate things given to me much more than I had before. My relationships, my faith in God, my ownerships of toys... they are indeed all blessing from God.

Remembering the times when I had little, really thought me to appreciate things when I have

And so I'm reminded to think about where I came from: for once I was sinner. But while I was a sinner, Christ came for me in His grace that I may inherit his gift of righteousness and be joint heir with Him.

Where I came from?... Man, I don't want to go back there - a very bad place to be for sure.
Where I am now?... as Christ is, who is seated on the right hand God, so I am, as joint heir. Really, it's the best place to be - on earth and on heaven.

What I learn about Singapore

Contary to popular belief I think cars in singapore are cheap, relatively.

It's all relative I guess and I'm comparing it to Malaysia. Yes! Malaysia. Why because Malaysia's import tax on cars are what 300%?! Perhaps this is to protect the local car manufacturers... or whatever but this make imported cars in Malaysia super ex!

Would you believe that on the road prices for cars like Hondo and Toyota are about the same!!!! Perhaps Malaysia a bit more cheaper. Imagine that, Malaysians are paying Singapore prices for cars! So the next time you buy any new car in Malaysia think about that.. is it really worth it? :P

BUT.....

Second hand values of cars in Singapore is super cheap. Mainly because cars here can only 'last' 5 years due to the COE so second hand value drops tremendously. (but I heard you can renew it to 10 years).

Also the mentality that 'old' cars of 5 years are hard to maintain - esp the continental cars. Which explains why a friend of my bought a jaguar x-type for less that sgd80k!!! And a tourag is advertise for 50k OMV (plus coe, plus tax maybe 120k---- retailing in Malaysia 1 million).

brilliant.

and to those who believe that continental cars are hard to maintain, thanks for helping me keep the 2nd car cost low :)

Cost of Happiness

During one sad day last week, wife gave me a treat to one my favourite restraunts. KFC. My happiness level increased almost 25 points in my 100 point scale.

all it cost was rm23.00 ++ which is a KFC original 3 piece chicken dinner set + 2 piece chicken snack plate + rice + salad.

I had 4 piece of chicken, chicken skin, oil and fats. yummy!

the animation that thought me communication...

A picture speaks a thousand more, they say. I suppose then an animation speaks a thousand more. As it is so with this one. I hope blogspot is able to show you the animation. It's a picture of a 'dancing girl'. Now which way do you see her spin? Clockwise, or anti-clockwise.

When I first got this picture, I saw it spin anti-clockwise. (Means apparently, I'm more analytical) and the friend who send it to me saw it spinning clockwise.

As we discuss it over IM, our frustration mounted. No HELL way it's spinning clockwise I said and my friend replied, wtf are you talking about?! It's definitely not spinning anti-clockwise if you ask him.

The spell was broken when a colleague of mine remarked, 'wow, what an interesting animation.. i can see it spinning both ways.'

What the FUCK?! Both ways? Of course I only said it 'internally' (hahaha...)

Finally, after about 1 hour, we analysed the gif file - frame by frame ... (see I guess I'm left brain afterall) and discovered how one can see it go both ways - clockwise AND anticlockwise.

It's been months since I received the picture and since then it has thought me a valuable lesson on communication. I can be right while at the same time wife can also be right. Who's to say she's spinning clockwise or anticlockwise. Both could be right - at the same time. Unless one is standing from the top and looking down we don't know for sure which way she's spinning.

In our daily lives I discovered, sometimes, NO, in fact, many times both are right.

The picture also planted the thought to me that sometimes, if i bother to calm down (hard), listen (very hard) and put myself in the other person's shoes (so so very hard) I may just see things spinning differently. Funnily, the result this is usually a very light and happy feeling!

Now that I can see our lady spin both ways, I'm happy. Hey I may even brag a little about it. It's great feeling to know that I can see more than 'meets the eye'. Knowing this truth it seems has set me (more) free and it should do the same to you too... because whoever you're having an arguement with just now, you were right. Perhaps so was s/he.

*if you're on facebook check out the 'brain game' since blogspot can't show animation

What I learn from the running sports....

You take it, step by step and lap by lap... and you improve minutes by minutes, seconds by seconds.

I'm glad I finally broke my 40min barrier to run 5 rounds in kiara park today. I'm happy

Terry Fox Run

The 2007 Terry Fox Run happened last Sunday. Though some of our friends FFK in the last minute, LiPing and I, Jit, Mom and Liang still went for it.

We had a great time.

The weather on Sunday was superb, bright blue sky but not too hot. The place was crawling with people and the whole place was oozing with a certain positive vibe! It was just beautiful to be there. The crowd was made up of much diversity - all coming in for a cause and to have some fun. There were, Chinese, Indians, Malay, French, Americans, Brits, Aussie (I only guessing from their accents and many other languages I cannot identify)....etc etc

The stores providing the endless supply of water, muffins, milo, bananas...etc also add to the 'Fanfare' mood. It was really fun la.

The run however was ok only because seriously, their organisation of the run wasn't too good. We were supposed to do 6.75km only but due to the lack of direction we did one lap of the kids route and then another one of the adult long route. We estimated later that we ran about 10km using Google earth :) Awesome technology!

Here is the kids route:
And here's the long route:

But all in all, it was still a fun day with family and friends.

Bouncing......

So I am enjoying my run. Then I see this well endowed woman running my way... aiyah... so big boobs, running sure bounce la. Why never wear sports bra? Not pain meh?

Let me tell you woman, I can identify with you this. Not that I have boobs la but I do have...

*sigh*

... belly

Well, it bounces. It wobbles. It feels weird. When I move forward, I can feel it still at the back, when I'm moving upwards, it's just bouncing downwards....it move the opposite direction of my motion.. not exactly, simple harmonic motion! hahahaha....

Thankfully, it's closer to my centre gravity.

Fear Factor

Couple of weeks ago, I went for a birthday party of a friend. We started a business together years ago but has since went our seperate ways. They went on to be successful network builders.

Anyway for her birthday, after a couple of beers, they decided to play 'fear factor'. What's the 'fear factor' ? Eat whatever is served to you.

We have FIVE contestant - the bday girl also la - and the loser down one beer.

Deng Deng Deng.....

Hahaha.. a used sanitary pad! Eat the 'leftovers'

Ewwwww.

Actually it's just tomato ketchup and a delicious piece of chicken. It's no wonder we often hear, crocodile, snake, rabbit....etc all taste like chicken. In this case, also chicken. Real one. I know looks like nuggets from... nvm la.

Contestant, ARE YOU READY?!

Someone said at this point, aiyah I drink beer easier la. Can just drink ah? Of course not, then where's the fun for us the spectators? Where's the fun in that FOR us? Must Eat!

Ack-tua-li, quite tasty..... taste like chicken la! hahaha of course la. it is chicken. :P I guess it's all in the mind isn't it? Is durian tasty or stinky? In this case, the challenge is greater for the woman and so here it is.. she gladly down the beer (wash off the 'blood' taste').

Terry Fox Run

Wife and I are really enjoying our runs for the last couple of months. It's a new sport we picked up. Besides the exercise the obvious physical benefits - more stamina, stronger legs, great way to lose weight - it's also an excellent way of de-stressing. We've found running to be almost always refershing. After a good 30mins-1hr work out, we feel that we can take on the world again!

So what better way have fun with friends and family and raise funds for a cause? None other than the Terry Fox run. Terry Fox is a guy who ran, with one leg, a marathon a day for a consecutive 143days, totalling 5,373km while he was suffering from cancer. He was forced to stop when his condition worsen. He died about 1 year after he was forced to stop.

Wow! What determination.

A gang of 9 of us will be going for this year's run so friends who are reading this and would like to join us for the run do gimme an email or put a comment here. The run is just 5km and 7km. Run, jog, walk, crawl, cycle, rollerblade is welcomed as long as you support the cause - by buying the tshirts.

For more information here's the link again.

wah so lomantic ah...

Me and wife were doing groceries last week and we bumped into a friend, whom I have not seen for a long time. I was at the phone at that time, so he said 'hi' and went off. So after I got off the phone I called the guy up and ask him if he is free to catch up. To which he decline because he said he didn't want to be a 'lightbulb' admist my romantic date with my wife....

I simply told him, ' Elo friend, when you get married, you can get to be romantic like this with your wife every week.. it's called buying groceries!'

Which brings me to realiased that...

1. Before you get married, going to the supermarket to get groceries seems like a 'romantic' idea.

2. After being married, groceries is another thing we have to do. I'm not using the word 'chore' because that word implies I dislike it. No, I don't dislike it but neither would I say I look forward to it.

Another thing I found out about supermarkets are: Real woman are found in supermarkets!

When we were 'boys' our 'bird watching' areas are mostly like to be clubs, pubs... (ok at least me ok?). Skin was in abundance so were hormones and other intoxication. I learn that those short skirts, tight dresses, and make up are mostly facades. Heck, I learnt later that pushup bras can make any girl have longkang! (I was fooled for so long!!!!! Another thing, for the price they pay for a good bra, I'd expect it to be able to do my presentation AND make coffee besides just a nice cleaveage. On the other hand, sigh....nice cleaveages are nice tho). Anyway I digress.

In the supermarket, woman come in all shape, sizes, height - with and without make up - in all permutations and variations. Their thoughts for their family, how they hunt for the best value, best quality, best nutritional food..etc are just so - wow! Their nurturing instinct is just phenomenol. Week in week out, they just labour to care for their family. After 1 year of doing groceries (not a lot but still), I've not met a woman who looks tired in the supermarket. They are on a roll... I suppose it's pretty similiar when us guys go into our gadget shop (be in Mac shop, electronic goods shop, car showroom....) Even with the younger girls (and their bfs) they seem to display higher IQ when it comes to supermarket shopping.

So naturally, at home in the kingdom of kitchen they are default rulers. Highly esteemed and untouchable.

Sokay, nehmind, I still rule the kingdom of TV and sofa.

Mizuno Wave Run 2007

Got my t-shirt and my number? yes

Got the shoes? Yes!

Got the sports drink to 'refuel'? Yes!

Got the qualifying medal? YES!

Work up at 6am, had 1 glass of apple juice, 1 glass of milo + coffee, a bit of chocolate and raisins and we're off to the 2007 mizuno wave run. Ronnie was roaring to go by the time he came to pick us. I'm not sure about Li Ping but I was still trying to wake up.

By the time we got to Padang Merbok it was 7am. Although we were 30mins early, the place was packed! Unlike the subang run, the crowd in this run looked 'serious'. There weren't a single 'unfit' looking person (except me) around! So at this point, wife and I decided that we shall try not be last and qualify.... hahaha kiasu man!

Walking to the reporting point, people were already doing sprints warm up and stretching -the atmosphere was charged! When the horn was blown, 2000 runners charged forward.

Apparently, this run is the hardest of all 10k run in KL. The route, which includes two hills in bukit tunku, is no joke! Most of our route is sloppy, with some 'mercy' flats threw in intermittently

I started well and got to the drink station which was placed at about 4.5km at 35min +/- . Right after the drink station, came the part with the steep hills. In this part of my run, I took almost 50mins to finish 5.5km, not spectacular but ok considering my first hill run. (We never trained on hills before)

During the run, because I also carried the gatorade, I think I drank too much! hahaha and carrying the bottle with it contents kinda affect my stride also. It was at the 8km mark after I throw away the bottle that I discovered how much easier it was to run without anything in my hand. Hmm.. the swing of the hand does have an effect on overall body balance (duh!)

The last km got easier because it was all downhill, I increased my pace and finished it with a bit of a sprint - all the energy left in me! Praise God we all came in before qualifying time. Ronnie, Eric and Li Ping timed 65mins, 81.5mins and 85.5mins respectively.

After the race, I came home and had a GREAT bowel movement. So GREAT I think it may shave off a couple minutes for me! (maybe got 1kg?) Point to self: Off load before run.

Anyway it was a great feeling completing the 10km run. Even more so when all of us qualify which we did not in Subang :)

Li Ping's account:
Was terrified of this run. In the end, got a medal for finishing within qualifying time. Quite proud of myself. I ran quite well the first 5 km until the water station. Tried to pick up speed on the first half as I know the hills are coming. Tried to run up my first hill too fast. Had to stop to walk for a bit to recover. Also the energy drink they serve didn't go down well...or maybe I was just over-pushing myself on the hills. Tried to run as much as I could but ended up walking some. At the 6km mark when the guy said it was all downhill, I started running again. Ran all the way pass Tugu Negara and thought that I was nearing the finishing mark. See see....there's another 2km to go and we encounter our 2nd hill around Istana Selangor. I was busted then alredi so walk most of the uphill and tried to run. I realised after a while that a brisk walk type of run goes up hill easier than walking. So tried running as much as I could. Last km...ran all the way. Tried to pick up speed but was too tired to push too hard after the hills. Wanted really badly to stop and walk but decided to just finish running. I reach the finishing line at 1:25:30 and got a finisher's medal to show for it. It feels good to qualify on the toughest 10km route in KL :)

The lost ring.

Recently, I learnt how to swim. Yes! After almost 3 decades living in this planet, I am finally able to. Better late than never I guess.

And so we went swimming yesterday - I wanted to try out my new goggle.

It is fun doing this new thing called swimming, it reminded me when I first learnt how to cycle. The feeling that you can actually float and glide and move on water feels quite cool :)

So you can imagine the super anticlimax when I discovered that I lost my wedding ring in the pool after I got out. Yikes! All the joy of swimming vanished. The happy-o-meter dipped to the extreme negative. Heck I felt panic! My ring?! Where is it? Such a big pool!

After quickly grabbing a torch light from the apartment, we went back to the pool to look for the ring... my precious :) (can't resist that one!)

Wife was super calm, dunno why. I acted cool but inside almost crazy liao.

Such a big pool and such a small ring? Where do I start? Luckily being the noob swimmer, I only swam a few areas so we started there. I even ask the guys in the pool to help.

No luck.

It was already nearing eight, the light wasn't very good but I wasn't about to give up really - since the pool was to close at 10pm. I swam back to where I first jumped in and looked there.

And there it is, what was lost is now found. When I surfaced with the ring in my hand, I held it up and shouted across the pool to Li Ping," Yeah! Found it!" Joy beaming from my face, so bright I thought it was morning! hahaha.

The guy in the pool congratulated me and I thought to myself, wow I'm so blessed :)

Best Char Kuay Teow in the world.

I promised chief to do this review some time back and it's about time i do it :)

On my way to celebrate my 1st anniversary (in july, yalah i know long time ago d) we stopped by at Sitiawan for makan. My colleage recommded a place called 'huey kong shi'. Her direction is as follows: from Lumut go straight then see KFC, go futher a bit then turn left.

I know it isn't much to follow but somehow we manage to find the place. (aiyah sitiawan small place mah, i think they only have 1 kfc) The place looked like one of those hidden corners in a small town. With streams of car going to the stall to order, it gave us a hint that this stall was good. We were certainly not dissapointed.

Turns out the CKT there was excellent. Cooked over coal fire the taste of lard, chili prawns...etc is well balanced and very 'yam mei' (flavourful? frangance? what's the proper word to describe this?) After my first bite, I ordered another one to-go.

Later, I went back to take some photos and watch the uncle do his 'magic'. I noticed that he had very percise strokes when mixing the ingredients and adjusting the heat from the fire. He made the accuracy looked simple! A bit like doing kung fu, except with the wok plus he got a belly.

This explains why my second serviing of CKT taste exactly like my first one - awesome!

ahhh.. joys of ckt.

Race Day - Subang 10km

The day started at 5.45am for us when the 1st alarm rang (We have two). I was really too excited to sleep properly the whole night and was ready to get up. However I decided to give my body all the rest it needs so I lie back down on the bed. Unconsciously and without much effort, Psalm 23 came up in my mind and I recited it.

What a way to start the morning!

Just after about 5:50am, I got up. Sat on my throne (wash hands first ok!) and then fixed myself 1 glass of apple juice 1 glass of milo. For energy, I ate up 1 mini sneakers bar and 1 mini mars bars. Leftovers from the KK trip. 'Yes, dear' was playing on the TV.

At 6:25am Jit and Kavi arrived and we made our way to Ronnie's house where we all meet.

We reached Ronnie's at about 6:50am. After a short introduction, everyone - Jit & Kavi, Ronald & his friend Kenneth, Viviana, Rosalyn, Ronnie, Liping and I made our way to MPSJ. The excitement is building up as we can see Jit talking, running and jumping. His excuse - needs the warm up :) The veteran runners - Ronald and Kenneth was cool. Ronnie Khoo is also cool. At this point, the three ladies: Kavi, Rosalyn and Vivianna decided that they're going to do the 5km distant.

Prompty at 730am a gun was fired, signalling the start of the run. Wife and I decided that we're going to take it easy at the beginning and stayed right at the back. We can see a large pool of people surging forward. What a sight! We started slow and then wife stopped to tie shoelaces... and we must be really taking it easy when I see that the police bike trailing us! hahaha.....

The morning air was cold. Since we do most of our training in the evening, we could still feel that our muslces were tense. The slow start helped warm us up and we got on to a good pace 5mins into the race. It's a good feeling to start slow, catch up and over take people. As I look around during the run, I was just happy to to know that all those training paid off!

I think our pace was about 7mins++/km. We put many people behind us but still there was so many many many many people in front of us. There's just this long trail of human traffic. At the same time, there were many many runners overtaking us.

Throughout the race, the scenery was okay. USJ does look quite nice in the morning. I also found out that running on asphalt also gives more cushion than running on concrete in Kiara park. There was this part though, the factories were burning stuff and the air smelt foul!

At about the 6km mark we caught up with Jit, who hasn't been well for the last 2 weeks. Poor chap. He was still positive as ever. Somehow I had more fuel today so I ran ahead then.

Soon I found myself pacing this young couple. College kids -girl in blueshorts and blue top, guy in black shorts and yellow top. Whoever you are thank you! While I was panting, they were talking! While my legs were hurting I think they were 'dating'! Somehow they don't look like they were pushing..

Although I was unfamiliar with the route, the signs were clear. In fact I just followed the crowd. Kinda like a herd la.

The last km was the toughest really. I thought the last kilometre was coming up when I saw MPSJ looming ahead. Oh glorious MPSJ! So I started running faster and faster.... Arrgh to find out that I have to run past MPSJ all the way to the end and then make a U-turn back. Ooi play cheat! Hahaha.

Nevertheless, I pushed on. The last 300m run was super painful but it was well worth it when I finished my first 10km run in 71mins. Jit came in at 73mins and then wife at 75mins. I was so proud of her when she crossed the finished line. Kenneth is the champion among us coming in at 61mins with Ronnie close behind him. All in all, we felt really good completing the run.

Liping and I are happy with our time as we aimed to come in at about 80mins+. After cooling down, streching and some free drinks. We finanlly get to ajourn to the main event of the day - breakfast.

Awesome. I really had fun today. I0years ago, I wouldn't have thought I'd enjoy running at all!

the 10km run

Long long time ago, in a land not far away from here (in Singapore), a boy used to be (one of the) last in school runs. He avoids running at all cost and the dark side has told him that he cannot do it....

This weekend, he is going to face that challenge again. Yes, I will be facing my old fears. But this time with a bit of difference, as a friend aptly put it:

What drives you? Jesus' fuel
Jesus' fuel... give you extra kilometers

Okay I hope that works. Plus I have also been practicing. As you can see from the chart below. Of course I label all of them 'easy' la....what else would they be called?

(Actually, there's long, trail, short, easy, chicken rice and nintendo. I have no idea what's the difference so I just put all of them easy)

Another point to note is that my wife has suddenly improved and have been running so fast I can't catch up with her. I was quite dissapointed with myself last week for not improving. I sulked and sulked and there was this tension between us. Thankfully it's much better now. I come to realiase that it's 'me' I have to challenge. Comparison just makes one feel bad about oneself all the time. As for 'me', 'me' has been improving, slowly but improving.

On a brighter note, it's a good feeling chasing skirts again... as soon as I can persuade her to wear those short skirt tennis players wear for runs or those shorts. Ahhh.. such spiritual reasons I have written in my blog.

Uncle

As we were stretching down today, I started a conversation with one of the regulars in kiara park. He's a nice chap and really down to earth. Being a 'guru' he naturally encourage us to keep going which was very welcome.

We look at him, he look like he is in his early 30s. Shapely muscular legs, washboard abs, defined arms and bursting with energy. My jaw dropped when he said he was 41! The floor sounded a thud when my jaw finally dropped when he says he can finish a regular 10k run in about 30mins. It's 'normal' runner standard la....

wah seh, 30mins man.

Somemore his body quite the tekong okay. Uncle got washboard abs ok! So okay la. I'm running :)

Haze!

Arrrgghhh.... @#$%$^%^%&%^ stupid haze is back.

Every year this time Indonesia exports haze to our country.
Every year about this time I get sore throat, sniffy nose... as with the millions of msians due to the haze.

Eh? Isn't this what economist called 'externalities? They produce something that's harmful not to themselves but to others - shouldn't there be a charge on this?

arrrggh. It's like that irritating auntie that comes visit you every year and won't go away!

I wish I can switch on a giant fan and blow it back at them.

I am God's Beloved

I have always known that God loves me since I became a Christian some years ago. Yeah, I tell myself that he loves me a lot. How much is a lot? Well, God gave me His only son mah.

Somehow it's more head knowledge than heart felt conviction. I mean what does it really mean when we say that God gave us His son?

"He gave us His son lo...." Then?

I believe that if we truly believe that if He gave us His son, our lives would be radically transformed. Or if I put it bluntly, I think that many of our lifestyles reflect that we don't really believe it. Sorry I don't mean to point finger at anyone, if there's one person who I know isn't displaying that enough - it's me. :) In fact, I felt like I've just accepted Christ yesterday, everyday these days.

The truth don't set us free... believing in the truth does.

Imagine if you need to sacrifice your son/daughter. That's tough. Your only son/daughter - that's pushing it. Your only son/daughter that you so loved - that's SOOO hard. Yet God didn't spare him did He?

Imagine that, He didn't even spare His only beloved Son for us to redeem us so that we may be imputed with righteousness and along with that.. ALL the promises of God.

On top of that He deposits the spirit in us as THE gurantee that He'll be back for us. The spirit! That same spirit in the olden days will kill the 'not so holy person entering the holy of holies. Does that make us more holy? ...Now that we can contain THAT spirit?

So when some people feel that they can't ask God for say the job promotion s/he's been wanting because s/he don't feel that it's right. Now think about it, if God can give you His son, the Holy Spirit, the promises - would He withold something as 'small' as the 'promotion'? We don't believe that He really loves us that much do we? Yet we believe that He gave us His son.

Somehow it seems God's work, His grace seems to end at at salvation. But that is not so my friends! God is love and Grace is a teacher!

To God, who is able to do exceeding abundantly, above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

7 rounds!

Today, we finally did it. We ran 7 rounds around kiara park. That is 7 x 1.1 = 7.7km.

It feels darn good okay!

Priceless

Iran is a very strong team

Malaysia is a sucky team

Total goals malaysia has in A cup = 1

Total goals scored against malaysia in A cup = 11

Malaysia ONLY lost 2-0 = priceless

Quoting the star " The Malaysians defended well in numbers and Iran could only manage to take a 1-0 lead at half time...."

Didn't recall losing 2-0 was called ONLY... maybe someone should ask teams in EPL what losing 2-0 means.

Well I guess compared to losing 5 - 0.... it is a somewhat improvement.

I was lost and now found.... and then lost again...

I am a Porsche 911 Targa 4. I cost only 963k.... Day before yesterday, someone came to relief me. But the 'saviour' came without petrol... and I was lost in a matter of mins. See here.
Now I'm lost in the wilderness, stuck in the middle of no where! I'm the prince of cars! How can I be treated like that! No petrol? What were they thinking?

Healing

The first time I experience God's healing is when I went to mount KK. On the way down, I pulled my hamstring. It was the same thing I experience when I went to Gunung Nuang. According to the docs, it takes 6 weeks to heal.

In Mount KK, I declared His healing... and then just started running. YES! Running while I couldn't even walk at first. Then the pain just went. No more. 1 month later it's STILL not there :)

Today I'm reminded about this healing.

The Lord heals... ALL who believes. All, as recorded in Mark and Luke... My god! That's our God! Who heals!

To what or who do I owe this? My good works earned me this power? No. It was by faith in Christ, who through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses!

Hallelujah!

No strings attached. The real good news!

So I am reminded today about the gospel and to those around me I feel so compelled to tell this good news to, especially to one of my colleague.

She has just went for an operation. Early on I sense that God asked me to pray for her healing before she went and I should believe for a complete healing. At that time, I couldn't even belief that I could pray for her... but the day before she went she actually accepted!!!! Then when I pray I suk sa (ie. held back) abit because I didn't believe in the complete healing which I was told to pray for her.

Now, why would I be 'scared' to pray like that? Because I don't believe that it's ALL HIM. If it's ALL Him, then what should I be scared of? I feel a bit guilty really because after that she still has to go for operation.

Then today.. suddenly... I still want to share with her the goodnews that God has healed all your sickness. She told me that she's still in pain and more so, I want to tell her that from now until the future because by His wounds, He has healed you. Oh, if you knew how much God loves you... and you can rest secure, secure, SECURE in Him and no more sickness shall come near you.

Jesus make your power known to her - heal her, bless her, restore her... hallelujah and you are our refuge, our God, our friend.... and exceed our expectations of how much you're going to bless her. Thank you. You're are GREAT!

Family dinner..

Family dinner has always been stressful for the missus.

Coz she worries about what to cook, how to cook... timing and all that. Expectations from 1 mother is stressful enough... multiply that by 2.... STRESSFUL

Thanks babe for cooking a wonderful dinner tonight and handling everything well.

Harry Potter got no balls

I have a theory: Harry Potter got no balls. Just look at these pictures.

How can sit on broom - between your legs - if you have balls. Have you tried that? I mean... it's pain man! Some may say.. girls like it. Please la... this is not igallop ok!

It's pain to sit on a stick like that. That's why you see in bollywood film or chinese film, when the hero fetch the girl on a bike she sit acroos the steel bar so that her butt can cushion.

So what more a man.

Either he has no balls... or the opposite is true. They have balls of steel.

I wonder if that's the first spell they learn before they learn how to ride the broomstick.

wife broke 5k barrier

yup.. she's done it. 5 rounds 5 x 1.1 = 5,5km!!!

I'm so proud of her!

6.6km!!

It was grueling.... but I made it.

Just broke my 5km run barrier :) 6 rounds around kiara (1.1km x 6) = 6.6km.

10km here I come.

Last sunday, 7 of us went to watch Fantastic 4. It was good la :)

Jessica Alba, my ex-gf, she lost some weight due to our break up but still manage to look quite hot. Not bad not bad... according to the girl, FY, Johny the 'human torch' is STEEAMMINNNGGG hot. Really meh? You haven't seen me in.. nevermind.

Anyway I wanna tell you that we had the BEST seat in the house. Middle row, middle seats. I could hear the THX sound just right - back, front, left, right, back front, back right... etc.

How did we get it?

215pm - We went to Cineleisure for 320pm show and it was packed with ppl. The ticket lines were so long that the 'foyer' couldn't contain it and was making around the corner. We're hoping to get those tickets that were not picked up via phone bookings. Those bookings are cancelled 45mins before show time.

220pm - The line hardly move!!! Tickets going fast! Eric prayed and said to Liping: I feel God saying that He will give us the ticket today :) Yay! He thought he looked cool, composed, as his ego knows no bounds but wife says he looked anxious- slightly. Scared to believe also. (Can't fool the missus)

225pm - almost to the counter.... sometimes, all phone bookings are picked up....

228pm - Cyn said: if the seats are within 5 rows to the front then she rather not watch! Alamak! more conditions, less chances of getting tickets. No tickets, little hope!

230pm - At the counter - 10mins earlier than anticipated to pick up phone booking cancellation. Woman found us 7 seats. Ngam ngam for all of us. Wah!!!!!! She sold us the phone booking tickets because she said sometimes they open them slightly early.

231pm - Eric became 'hero' ! Wife say Eric got so much faith :) Eric also amazed. Everyone thanked God!

...... later that day at about 730pm, we went to DU for dinner. No parking.

Eric prayed and again God answered - parking just in front of eating place :) Sweet, really sweet.

I'm so amazed actually that God took attention in our movie watching and car parking. It's awesome. I'm more blessed to hear later that KH actually later said,"... when he saw that God answered Eric's prayer for car park... I keep quiet already....."

He kept quiet perhaps because he was amazed that God answered? I was amazed too hahaha but most of all, I hope this true story of my Sunday adventure cheers you up and reminds us that God actually loves us so much that He cared... and gave us the best seats in the house, the best parking.... and somewhere among His best - His son, Jesus Christ.

What a start to the week really...

26th August 2007 - 10km RUN

I have had such a tough week... and really looking forward to the weekend right now. Spend some time with wife, doing some runs, eat some delicious home cooked food, read.....

oh yeah, I've also decided to do my first run at Subang Jaya - 10km. 26th August 2007. Now to train for it! I'm quite excited by it really because I have never been able to run when I was in school. Always the last few in any runs, I dread the yearly 2.4km 'jog exam'.... I don't remember much except my friends - and the chicks - over taking me.... again and again (coz we ran in the school track).

... and again.

During my preparation for the KK trip, I started jogging. This time really slowly. In the beginning, I jog really slowly. Like slower than the auntie walking that kind! Hahaha.... but slowly, the body adjusted, strengthen...

Months down the road, I am actually enjoying my jog. I'm still slow (I just timed 2km at 14min) but I'm having fun... trying to break my 5km jog barrier :) So 10km is pretty ambitious really!

ya I know! I can actually say I want to break the 5km barrier! Months ago I was struggling in my 1st km! I'm hoping to go for a 1/2 marathon or a marathon next year.. kekeke..

Praise God!

So much difference.....

I've always knownt that my camera - a simple Canon Powershot A700 - has given me a lot of noise, especially for the night shots.

I've tried to work with a lower ISO but it still seems high.... well thanks to digital manipulation :)

I want to be blessed

I do.

There was a report some day ago about a church preaching the 'prosperity gospel' in Africa. It's a place with severe poverty and critics say that they are a cult.

Don't you just love it when newspaper write, "...critics say....." @#$#@% (Internet- critics have reportedly more smellier shit than normal ppl and critics of the critics says they also have more shit than normal..... )

Now I'm not saying that this church is a cult or not. They could be, I don't know. But is preaching prosperity in a place of severe poverty bad?

Would it then be bad to preach so that the blind can see? or that the lame can walk? or that the sick can be healthy? So why not the poor shall know no lack? (Someone said, "as if we buay kau suay!" )

Some christians may be shocked by this. What else should the church be preaching? Oh you sinners who are saved, you were blind and now more blinder. You thought you were lame, now you're lamer! muahahahahahah wah you're sick ah? cham liao... sure sicker (I know, I sound like a psycho.. keke )

I just think that many people feel that money and god don't mix. That's wrong. The greed for money and God don't mix as no man can serve 2 masters.

If you still don't believe me then I suggest you stop blessing others.

Yes, stop saying God bless you.

Why? because bless in the NT mostly means - 'eulogeo' - is the original Greek word for 'blessed', meaning favoured of God, to celebrate with praises, consecrate a thing with prayer, to cause to prosper or make happy, to bestow blessings on.

Yup, it's there.. to make prosper and in the blessings from the law. Fu yoh!

So God bless me. Bless my readers. Bless all of us abundantly so that we may know you more - the power of your ressurection, the depths of your love and the wonders of your grace. In Jesus's name I pray.

Amen.

More spirituality

A good friend ask how come you were not in *enter church event* ? It's the best ever and s/he has learnt the most this time.... man you don't know what you missed! Man.

Recently it's the MCCC.

I've no doubt that I probably missed some stuff. Some great stuff too but why should I be there?

I mean, if I don't go would I be less spiritual or would I be more? Would I have grown more godly character if I went? .... during the time of MCCC it was the first time I experience God's healing, a time where I see God answering our prayers for weather. How could any sermon give me the experience I had with God during those 25 hours of climbing up and down. Oh... and the beauty of God's creation - the mountains, clouds.... and the great company! :)

I know that my friends mean well, and they're excited about the stuffs they learn. I know. When I learn something new I get so excited I tell everyone about it and most time shove it down their throats! Which I should have learn by now that it is the WRONG thing to do. hehehe but I still do it... arrghhh!!!!!!

So why should I be there? Unless God tells me to.

Recently there was Taming the Tiger. Many people went and said, "WOW!...." Then what?
I remember I was there during the prophetic conferences.... the many ppl around me when "WOW!..." Then?

Edmund Chan came to DUMC for MCCC a couple of years ago. Then ppl was saying the same thing.. it's the BEST thing! REALLY! ..Har? You didn't go? Wah.. why la.. you should have because.. well I've learnt so much.

Couple years down the road... could we remember what he was teaching?

I'm not saying that we shouldn't go. No. I feel that we should go. In fact go for as much as we can because listening about things of God is great and increases our faith....

But remember what Edmund Chan taught about the story of martha and mary. Mary has chosen the one thing that is needful, it shall not be taken away from her.

I believe we need to find that one thing for us - that place of restedness in Him - and know that we're where God wants us to be. Then Relax. Have some fun then have more. Love.

Miracles in KK

It's been almost one week since we got back from our hike and memories of it is starting to fade... sadly, that's how forgetful I am. Partly because my muscle aches are gone! yay! Partly the busyness of KL has started to creep back into my life!

However, I want to take some time to remember the good things God has done for us in our trip. I wanted to write ALL the good things God has done for us... but that would not be possible because I believe He has done many many many many good things for us and we are only conscious about some of them, perhaps even a small portion of them.

Firstly, we got there in one piece and got back in better shape :)

Secondly, we had a friend in Sabah who was so kind to ferry us around, show us around and bring us to some of the good makan spots :)

Thirdly, the company of friends was great. All of us has our own quirkyness which made the whole team 'colourful'

Then, there was good weather for the 2 days that we climbed Mount KK. See , the guides have been telling us that it has been raining VERY heavily EVERYDAY. When we were decending, the guides were chasing us a little so that we don't have to get caught in the rain. We weren't so worried because God said He'll hold the rain and He did. Just slight drizzle, nothing heavy.

Then, there was my hamstring. I pulled my left hamstring 2/3 weeks before the climb. The doc says 6 weeks to heal. So when I climbed I was careful not to put too much strain on the left leg, turns out my right leg was strained and I pulled my right hamstring on the way down. Same spot somemore. So I claimed His promises that He will heal me - by His stripes I'm healed. The pain subsided and I was able to walk down without any pain! Few days now, still no pain.

Then, the backpacker place we stayed in was very clean, friendly, well equiped and most of all cheap!

Lastly, when I got home I tried to call mom. She didn't answer. Apparently she accidentally cut her wrist - just missing the veins while she was doing some house chores. I was so shocked and worried. She told me calmly later that she's alright already. Doc say the cut just missed the veins a liiiiittttttllllleeee biiiit. Wah. Thank you God for taking care of my mom!

Thank God for a restful, fun, and adventurous holiday!

serene kk

The trip to Mount KK was great :)

We actually made it. It was so great. The trip was super grueling but fun.

For one week, it was serene. The only stress was the never-ending steps in the BEAUTIFUL jungle - without snakes or leeches - good.

The only noise was the faint waterfall in the distant or the chirping of the birds. :) - gooder

We drank water from the mountains - it's sweet, refreshing... like 10000 times better than diamond water. I found out, natural untreated water is very tasty! - very gooder

The scenery at the top is breath taking - very goodest!

Muahahahahaha.. and we did all this while you were working!

We started our hike from Mesilau on Friday morning about 8am at about 2000 meters above sea level. After about 9 hours, at about 5pm we reached Laban Rata at about 3300 meter. During the 9 hours, we saw the vegetation change. We moved from under the clouds to 'inside' to 'above'. When we are 'inside' it seems we were in the enchanted island, very shiok la. Then when we made our way above the clouds, it was so cool. I feel like I can almost jump down to a pillow of cloud cushioning my fall.

We then rested till 130am then we started our climb to the top - Low's Peak. We reached there about 530am just in time for the sunrise. We then made our way down at about 630am ? I dunno because I was very very very very freaking cold. We reached back at Laban Rata at about 1030am, had some food, packed and then head back down to Timpohon at 12pm. We reached at 600pm.

During the trip we ate tonnes of musli bars, sneaker bars and RM33 buffet- wahlau we dunno how to hunt in the jungle ok! The food up there was expensive but I guess no one is complaining. I wasn't because why? I didn't want to run down hill to get nasi lemak for my dinner. The wise thing is to pay and eat. Quote from grace," I don't want to see or eat another musli bar ever again... for a long time la..."

hahahahahahahaha

Everything was going well

until "I" came along.

That's what David says in the next verse:

Psa 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

See from 23:1-3, the context is that "He leads me, He makes.... " It starts from Him. But in verse 4. it starts with "when I walk.

It's like saying, we'll do okay when He leads but when I do the walking...I blow it all away and now I'm in the valley of the shadow of death. Kinda describe to me how screw up we can be.

But it's okay, God is still with us. His rod and His staff they comfort me, not whack me.

Is our perception of God one that will hit us and punish as we make mistakes?

David, who is the man after God's heart says:

He leads me in path of righteousness and even though I walk through shitty times, I fear no evil. Yes I walk and not He leads... I will still fear no evil because God is with me. His rod and staff they comfort me.

God loves us so much!!

He is not just my Saviour...

He is ALSO my Shepherd.

While I was taking my shower today, feeling happy - as I have been for the last week - I thought about Jesus as my shepherd.

Because He is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. As oppose to He is my saviour I shall not be in want. Shepherd feeds the sheep, He takes care of them. He makes me... He leads me... He restores me. How wonderful.

Psa 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Psa 23:2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
Psa 23:3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Then I realiased that in the midst of my 'happy' in the last few days... in the midst of being caught up that goodness and mercy is hunting me, I forgot to follow the shepherd as much as I want to. I haven't heard his voice for a couple of days now. Eric has a short term memory - busy playing!!!

Thank you father for your abundance blessing and your grace. How wonderful it is to hear your voice now.

To you my reader, God is blessing you right now in abundance. Whatever it is you have in your heart, go to him and He'll make things right for you.

Help it's hunting me!

Ahhhh.. God is so good. How good you may say?

So good that goodness will follow me.

Psa 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Actually, that's not accurate. Not accurate by far.

Follow in hebrew means: A primitive root; to run after (usually with hostile intent; figuratively (of time) gone by): - chase, put to flight, follow (after, on), hunt, (be under) persecute (-ion, -or), pursue (-r).

Which make the verse go: Goodness and Mercy shall HUNT ME all the days of life!

Where to hide? Where to run?

muahahahahaha Jesus love me.

You give

Thank you Jesus for making today special.

Today, many of the things that I've been waiting for happen! Hallelujah!

I can't help but to think that it's because God is encouraging me after I learn what I did yesterday.

Indeed, I can do nothing except through Christ. So many nights of worrying, of praying and things just started moving - before my holiday.

So while I'm getting excited about all the work that I have to do, I'm operating slightly different this time. Firstly, I'm starting work with rest. Before even working on the projects, I'm going for my holiday. Jewish day also starts in the evening, rest before work. First day of the week is Sunday, sabbath. I guess I didn't see how God take rest seriously until now when I'm typing this. I remember reading that during the old time, violation of Sabbath is punishable by stoning! Alamak! Jialat man!

Secondly, I figure that if it's God that causes things to happen, then the maxim seems quite true: Things were going great until "I" came along :).

So I'm learning to let go, to let God cause it, to let him change me to a different being. It's like being a pencil before and then transform to a pen. A pen just writes differently from a pencil.... just different.

Sounds like a robot? Hardly. I can't explain it. It's like what paul say...His love compels. Like what the covenant says, He write His laws on my heart..... At the same time, I can do everything. It's so FREE-ing. It's the Goodnews mate. The Gospel.

Thirdly I learn that by the same account that He gave repentance...ie. because I can't do it... He also gave us power to heal, that the lame may walk, the blind may see and walk on water and raise the dead.

Hehehehe... the force is storng in this one. :)

Fourthly, and this is taught to me by wifey. Man is bankrupt. We need to receive from God. Receive it abundantly and easily so that we know how GOOD our God is... only then we know how to give. Else we're just giving on our own strength.

Repentance and Forgiveness of Sin is given

I have been in the pensive mood for the last few days (or weeks). I feel a certain sadness.

Among many things, here is one of the reason. You see, I'm climbing Mount KK in about 2 weeks time and I think my hamstring, which I injured, would not heal completely in time for the climb. Not only that. The workout that I've put myself through, to boost my fitness, is just starting to bear fruit. And now I dare not exercise to much for fear of hurting myself again.

Really, I am just starting to enjoy myself... learning that I can get fitter and strong. I have never been a runner in school and now I am quite happy to jog slowly around kiara park for 5km... really slowly :)

So when I pulled my hamstring a week ago, I was quite anxious to get back to my regime so that I can get real fit. Real fit = easy climb = good time in KK. As I prayed over the healing of my hamstring and whether I should go back to exercise, I sensed in my Spirit not to run but to depend on Him for my KK climb.

I guess I should be quite happy about this - dependence. But really I wasn't completely happy about it. I mean this is my holiday. I should have the pleasure of knowing that I can climb mount KK... I mean I want to experience that satisfaction that I did it. I mean this isn't so hard to understand!

I am wise enough to know that if I 'argue' with God who will emerge the winner. But this hamstring thing is really challenging me. Depend on Him... even for my holilday?

So today I read something in Acts that gave me a glimpse of what I might be learning. In Acts 5:29-32 Peter said,"... that he might give repentence and forgiveness of sins..... "

It kinda shocked me because repentence is also given. It's given meh?

Then I realiase that what Jesus said is true. (duh?!). We can really do no-thing except through him, even repentence. (repentence means change our minds) We can't even change our mind/conviction on our own. This stupid simple 'little' thing called REPENTANCE also we have to depend on Him... sian! sian!

ooi.. but it's God's word. and it's true. and its VERY free-ing. now that I think about it.

He cause the repentance, I just chill out in Him.

So this KK trip I also must depend on him. At first I want to feel that I can achieve something and that I'm 'powerful' enough to control my life (through exercising, planning...etc not that that isn't good, just this is for me, for this season, for this moment.. I'm special you see :) )

Now I'm zero. God you be My Hero la. I just pray that you show up, don't make my hamstring pain again coz last week very siong. Also, let me have fun with my wife and friends. Take care of my business, bless me abundantly.... Yes God, I know I very chiong hei, you said it in scripture already, again and again. But just thought I tell you anyways.

Thank you Jesus for everything.

Inlaws or Outlaws

She drives me nuts sometimes, other times she makes me coffee.

She drives me up the wall, and most time- through the wall, other times she washes my laundry.

She's like a BIG little girl at home, giving excuses for a lot a lot of things.

I'm like a small BIG man bugging, irritating, confronting, challenging her many many times a day.

I can't change her but I can change my thoughts (coincidentally, that's the meaning of repent) so help me God.

How to get a free holiday.

Really, I no blaff you one.

Takes about 3 1/2 hours of work only.

1. Go listen to a time share sales pitch
- Just give your phone number when you stay in hotel, some cheesy promotion... etc etc somehow these ppl will soon find out who you are, your name, your gender and your age. They will then call you.

This part is called telemarketing on their part, to me is called: stop wasting my time, what's the deal here?

2. As a reward to listening their pitch they'll give you a hotel stay at XXX location for one night.
- Not bad. They say the sales pitch will only take 60mins. I don't think so. The REAL sales pitch is when they press you after the pitch after the 60mins. Asking you questions like: What's stopping you? Is money the issue, if yes, then how much can you afford....helping you to see past your 'issues' to get to a 'YES'. So Id say the REAL sales pitch time is 120mins.

Their part now is to bite and don't let go. I call my part here: act blur think smart.

3. As a reward to your strong willed NO and super thick skin :) You now have a free 1 night stay. Don't complain if the room is lousy, service is non-existent.. usually it's not. But if it is... it's free okay!

Why 3 1/2 hours? KL traffic and parking. 1 1/2 hours to get to their office and park and back. 2 hours to listen to pitch :)

This is when u say yay! you got a free stay... now does anyone have any idea how to get free transport to the hotel?

Womanese

Recently I learn that while ALL of us, men, speak English, women speak womanese. hahaha. Yup, they speak womanese. I've been married for 7 months and dated the same woman for 5 years prior to that and I'm just starting to learn this new, bizarre language called womanese.

I think I'm just starting to scratch the surface. Maybe.

Womanese is 'deceiving'. It sounds just like English but its undercurrent, its meaning is completely different. For example when my wife ask me if I love her. I answer: I love you.

3 simple words can mean a whole lot things.

She then ask again, do you love me? I say yes I do love you, very much.

How much?

Obviously, my english teacher didn't teach me well. I don't know the words "I love you" can be used to express the dept of love. I love you is I love you la...

Also, most guys probably don't know this. I love you also has a time factor in it.

In Womanese, I love you, last about 5 secs. That's why sometimes my wife can ask me: Do you love me? ...I love you... Do you love me?.... I love you.... Do you REALLY love me?.......

I think most of my dad's generation seldom tell their woman that they love them. Of course, they said that during the Wedding. "Oooi woman, I tell you already what.. how many time you want me to repeat..... I love you la"

It's not enough to tell them that you love them once a week... coz that was LAST week. Not once a day, coz that was YESTERDAY! you need to tell them constantly. It last for 5 secs. The 'weirdest' part is that this is not because they have short term memory. They don't.. never forget the last time you said "I love you".

Dear... do you love me? You haven't said that you love me for a long time......
huh? long time?..
yeah.... since this morning....

5 seconds, after which the power of "I love you" simply fizzles. no more. void. You have start again.

But I think I'm learning. It's like watering the most beautiful flower the more you say "I love you" the more pretty the flower becomes.

Honey I love you!!!!
